PARK(ing) Day is an annual, worldwide event that invites people everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks for the public.
Last year this event transformed 850 parks in 183 cities in 30 countries!
2011 PARK(ing) Day, held on Friday 16th of September, saw Street and Park Furniture and Wax Design supplying furniture to PARK(ing) magicians and landscape contractors, Outside Idea’s and urban consultants InfraPlan. Their space on Rundle St in Adelaide’s east, was transformed into a tranquil reading space, which we’re sure was utilised by customers of the Mary Martin Book Shop conveniently located opposite the ‘park’.
Street and Park were proud to be a part of this worldwide event and hope that it continues to grow in the future, and support any event that improves urban quality.
Next year, don’t park your car…park your bum, or bike or book!
